My Teaching Philosophy:

I believe that every child is an exceptional individual who needs a caring and stimulating environment in which to develop intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially. As a teacher, it is my goal to provide an atmosphere where students can meet their fullest potential.  I am committed to teaching each student as an individual and will meet each child's needs individually.  Most importantly I want to educate all of my students to become productive members of the community.

About Me:
I started working in Ridgefield in 1998 as a teacher's assistant.  My love for working with special needs children and my desire to help their parents gave me the motivation to return to school to get my special education degree.  It took me 5 years of going to school nights but in 2005 I graduated with honors and received my BA in education, specializing in students with disabilities.  I am also certified to teach K-5 general education.  I have never regretted the choice I have made.  I have taught students ages 3-21 and in every area of special education.  I love coming to work each day and becoming a part of each and every students lives.

In 2013 I was given the challenge of collaborating with my colleagues and creating a pre-strive and strive program at Slocum Skewes School.  We worked very hard on the program and implemented something very special for our students.  I am committed to educating my students in academics as well as in life skill areas that will help them develop into productive members of the community.
