My teaching career began thirty years ago as an early childhood educator and administrator. I have spent the last ten years here at Slocum Skewes School teaching mathematics and science to elementary and middle school students.
It is my belief that all children learn best in an environment where they feel safe and comfortable enough to learn in their own unique way. As their teacher, I will strive to provide an environment that promotes scientific inquiry and exploration in ways that satisfy the needs of all personality types and learning styles in our classroom.
Science concepts are complex at times and I try to simplify them and make them easier to understand by presenting activities and lessons in a fun, interesting way that students can relate to and apply to their everyday lives. This year will be exceptionally challenging as we navigate through our concepts virtually.
It will be an adventure, as I make every effort to teach with enthusiasm, humor, and commitment whilst exploring this new chapter in education- like true scientists!
It is my hope that my students share my love of science and become lifelong thinkers and learners!
