I was born and bred in Brooklyn, New York and always surrounded by music. My mother was a middle school orchestral music teacher who played the double bass and the piano. My dad was a pediatrician and also played the violin. My sister played the cello and piano and I played the viola and the piano. I started piano lessons in second grade and have studied and participated in music my entire life. I played viola in the Brooklyn Boro Orchestra, the All-City Orchestra as well as the Hunter College Orchestra. In fact, all my mother's siblings played a variety musical instruments! Before I went to college, I had the opportunity to work as a volunteer with a music therapist at Bellevue Hospital in NYC. She worked with infants who were critally ill and seriously deformed from birth. Together we sang to them while playing different instruments. This was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life!
In college I biked through Europe with my history professor and students from other states. We slept in hostels, and even a castle! I visted the Sistine Chapel, the Louve and other beautiful museums, galleries, concert halls, and gardens as well as taking the Rhine Steamer in though Germany. Travelling is one of my interests. I've been to Isreal, England, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, the Bahamas and Jamaica.
Also while in college, I was on the synchronized swimming team. We competed against other colleges. It was beautiful to swim and perform our routines to music!
