Dr. Laurie Densen

My name is Dr. Laurie Densen and I am the Supervisor of the RMHS Learning Center.  I am beginning my 29th year at Ridgefield.  For 16 years, I was the Supervisor of the Slocum Skewes Learning Center, and a special education teacher and a Reading Specialist in the district before that.  I previously taught at St. Philip the Apostle School in Clifton and in the Paramus Public Schools.

I graduated from Susquehanna University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, and from Bloomsburg University with a Master's degree in Reading. I received my doctoral degree in Curriculum and Teaching from Fordham University.  My dissertation focused on best reading practices for students classified with autism.

Outside of school, I am the mother of two daughters, and my husband is a Special Education teacher, too. I am a huge Yankees fan, and I love music and reading.

Being an educator was the only job I ever wanted, and I am fortunate to have worked with wonderful teachers and administrators over the course of my career. But most of all, I am fortunate to have worked with students who have brought me smiles and happiness, and most of all, taught me to find joy in everyday things.

I look forward to working with the students and wonderful staff here at RMHS to see what we can accomplish this school year!
