• I Love Science

The Ridgefield school district has adopted the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).  The goal of NGSS is to develop useable knowledge to explain real world phenomena in the physical, biological, and earth & space sciences.  The 8th grade curriculum will strive to answer the following essential questions:

    • How does a system of living and non-living things operate to meet the needs of the organisms in an ecosystem?
    • How do organisms change over time in response to changes in the environment?
    • How can humans reduce their carbon footprint?
As students explore these issues, they will develop and use models; plan and conduct investigations; analyze and interpret data; use mathematical and computational thinking; and construct explanations using evidence to support their argument.  Additionally, they will demonstrate understanding of engineering practices.
