The Ridgefield Public Schools are being featured on the Institute for Multi-sensory Education (IMSE) online journal for our work with word study in grades K - 3. Students are being exposed to the Orton Gillingham model for word study, which provides students with letter and word formation and identification through a multi-sensory approach. Students learn their letter sounds and words through listening, speaking, and tactile work; such as drawing letters in sand and finger tapping words. These skills will provide students with the ability to better decode and read larger words as they progress through upper elementary and middle school.
